UDU respects the history behind the places we visit, and we thrive on teaching you about the diverse components from the past that make up the natural landscapes and different areas of today. Our History tour is all about educating you on the past, but not just lecturing, experiencing it; walking the paths of previous cultures, seeing the natural landscape and experiencing how it has changed over time, as well as learning about the many political movements that have shaped the size of our natural landscapes and how we now use them compared to past generations.
THE HISTORICAL EXPERIENCE
From the pickup point be welcomed by your UDU guide for an overview of the day and an introduction to some Australian history. Upon arrival at the location be welcomed by a pre-settlement snack for the beginning of your real historical experience!
We start from ancient times with an understanding of aboriginal communities in the area, and go on a history walk to see some of the rock art and ancient dwellings from the past. UDU is always flexible and can add in some pre-settlement activities such as boomerang and woomera throwing for those ancient history lovers.
Get your adventure boots on; a walk to a special lookout location (or higher peak for the even more adventurous) is where your UDU specialist guide will paint a picture of how the landscape has changed over time. After getting a feel for how the land was used in the past, we sit down for a historical Australian lunch, just like the swagmen from our past!
UDU is very flexible with afternoon activities, and can include the waterways history canoe ride for a more nature based historical afternoon, a historical scenic bushwalk for an understanding of the native and changing flora and fauna from the past and present, or other activities too!
